Valuable Links For Your Life-Jan 7-2009
Published January 7th, 2009Happy new year everyone! I certainly had an eventful break, but was pleased to enjoy a little bit of time to myself with my husband and dogs before going back to work. Speaking of work…the economy and money seem to be on everybody’s mind in the latest round of blog carnivals this week. As usual, I’ve chosen to highlight positive posts that I hope will uplift and encourage VFYL readers to get the most out of every day. Without further delay, on to my picks!
The Festival of Frugality traveled on over to The Dough Roller this week. Not only did this site participate, but the second installment in my series on my 25% grocery savings rule was chosen as an editor’s pick! I find this carnival always spurs a can-do attitude when incomes to personal finance and frugal but rich life…and the following posts are reflective of that:
- The Art of Balanced Living has a great interview with Leo Babuta (author of the wonderful zenhabits.net). The Power of Less is Leo’s new book that goes through his life-changing transformations and how they can be applied to business and life. I’m really looking forward to reading this one.
- No Debt Plan’s post about Doing Christmas Different This Year caught my attention. Even though the holiday season is over, I highly recommend you read this…they managed to convince their family that it’s not about all of the material stuff this year. Kudos!
The Carnival of Money Stories was hosted over at Gather Little By Little. I just picked one favourite post from this carnival, nothing else even came close this week.
- Empowering Mom has posted Are You Waiting For Your Ship to Come In? This post is about not waiting to start living your life, and you should read it. Her story reminds me of my own father, who is thankfully still alive, but suffers from a terminal illness that has taken away the freedom and mobility he had so looked forward to enjoying being just 2 short years away from retirement. His diagnosis was one of the biggest reasons I really started to live my life differently a couple of years ago.
See you next week!
