Weekly Best Blog Carnival Links

Published July 17th, 2008

This week I participated in four great carnivals, and was honoured to have my posts about my recent career plan change and our family’s own pet insurance plan chosen as editor’s picks in three of them! Without further delay, here are my picks for this week, and also links to the wonderful sites who did the hard work of hosting them!

The Budgeting Babe did a stand-up job of hosting the Carnival of Personal Finance–this is the first time I visited her blog–very cool!  These were my faves:

  • So Sick of Debt’s happy post about how We’re Debt Free, is definitely something to read.  She is very modest, but what a big accomplishment!
  • Cheap Healthy Good’s post outlining 3 Frugal Rules she breaks, and 3 she lives by.  I’m with her on not budgeting down to the last penny–it’s too stressful and unmotivating for me.

The Festival of Frugality rolled on in to On Financial Success this week. As usual there were some wonderful posts about how to get the most out of the money you spend every day, but these two stood out for me:

  • Frugal Homemaker Plus’ post called Why Not? You Can Afford It made me smile and nod in agreement. It’s nice to know that there are other people out there who don’t care about getting caught up in the rat race!
  • Uncommon Cents wrote a post that I agree with: A New Bike Won’t Make Me a Better Cyclist.  I will never abandon my bright orange bike!

Funny About Money wrote a very simple and eloquent introduction to this week’s Carnival of Money Stories. These 2 posts kept with the theme of highlighting a good story, and I found them to be quite inspirational:

The Carnival of Money Hacks went Chicago-style as it was hosted over at This Writer’s Wallet.
As usual, there were some very helpful posts this week, but these ones really got my attention:

  • Inspired Money Maker’s post Why Does It Feel Like Your Going Backwards is an interesting post about the law of attraction, and very timely for me given the big decision I recently made about my career, and all of the changes that followed!
  • Harvesting Dollars’ post on Weber’s Law gave me a different perspective on something I probably innately understood, but never really thought about that much.  Anyway, interesting when thinking about how emotions play into your personal finance decisions.

That’s all for this week, happy reading!
