Festival of Frugality Weekly Picks
Published June 5th, 2008Another solid week of frugal advice in the blogosphere! This week’s Festival of Frugality was hosted by Kevin over at No Debt Plan. He did a great job putting this together, and the results are some good quality reading in an easy to follow format. Also, a big thank you for including my post on 55 Ways To Save Pennies.
Here are this week’s favourites:
On Simplicity’s post about Why We Don’t Buy: Use the Science of Shopping to Your Advantage struck a chord with me. I’ve been doing many of these things for years without even knowing it! My tip is to not use those gigantic shopping carts at Costco, I only buy what I can carry in my hands, and carrying the item around the store makes me think about whether I really need it before going to the checkout.
Are You Going To Be This Way The Rest of The Time I Know You? Brings up an excellent point Great Deals Lose Value When They Sit. And Sit. And Sit. Everybody has made a few of those regret purchases over the years, at least it is easier to swallow giving something of value away when it’s going to someone who really does need it.
Saving Advice’s post Why You Don’t Want a Budget is a must read. Although I’m still relatively young, I gave up on strict budgeting when university ended. I still keep track of all of the monthly expenditures, and just focus on finding excellent value and having the best quality of life possible.
Happy reading!

Thank you for the mention - It’s always greatly appreciated. I think we all would like to get to the point where we no longer have to budget.
