Festival of Frugality-This Week’s Favourites

Published June 13th, 2008

I had a bit more time than usual this week to read the great offerings at the carnivals.  A big thank you goes out to MoneyNing who hosted this week’s fabulous Festival of Frugality! I also appreciate the inclusion of my post on my Frugal Small Vegetable Garden.

As always, there were many great quality posts, but these ones really stood out for me:

Monroe on a Budget’s take on how Coupons Are Not Just For Junk Food.  I agree completely, even though I buy very little pre-packaged food, I think there’s great savings to be had, specially on household and personal care items as well as staple-type foods–even better when combined with a sale price!  There’s also absolutely nothing wrong with trying out a new product for free or at a great discount.  It’s all a matter of perspective.

I enjoyed reading. Saving to Invest’s post on Frugal Ways To Get and Stay in Shape.   I especially like the tips about using the exercise ball and jump rope.  You can even use the exercise ball just to sit on while working at a desk or table, or while watching TV.   Just sitting up straight on it forces your body to balance itself and helps to stabilize your core.

The Happy Rock brings up a genius idea: Save Time, Gas, and Money By Training Your Grocery Store.  A very, very interesting idea–I will definitely try leaving a comment to get them to stock a product I usually have to go elsewhere to get!

Lots of food for thought this week…happy reading!
