Amanda is a relatively young person, who is currently self-employed. In her late 20s, she discovered blogging, and what exists out there in the web besides her email account and the day to day websites that help to manage her life and finances!
Amanda has grown up in a family that values education. Her formal education has really opened up a lot of doors for her and fuelled her desire to help others and understand the world around us. For a very long time she’s known that we are all a part of a complex interaction between humans, animals, and the environment. She understood this at the age of 19 when she wrote her entrance essay into veterinary college.
She has spent a few wonderful, interesting, and at times challenging years in small animal practice as an associate working for others. Amanda was at a crossroads in her career, where she still really wanted to help people and animals, but did not want to buy her own practice or have the constraints of being an assiociate. She came up with a better plan–she would find another way to earn a living. The goal is to eventually dedicate most of her time volunteering for causes that help people and animals who do not have very much money.
The death of her first love, and then a devastating diagnosis for her father propelled Amanda to take action for what she wanted in her life. She realized that life is precious and can be way too short, so she should start becoming more of herself and do the things she’s set out to do in life.
She is passionate about traveling and the outdoors, understanding relationships with other people and animals, personal finances, and food-one of life’s true pleasures.
Amanda has always strived to find good value for the money she spends, and while in clinical practice, has always done her best to provide clients with good value for the money they spend on their animals. Finding and providing value is a core belief that extends into this website. She has decided to make all of her articles free and accessible to everyone, and let advertising pay for her expenses.
She lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and 2 wonderful Labrador Retriever types.
